1. Install the JDK
You can install Oracle’s JDK or Amazon Coretto
2. Install Flex Licensing
When you first run Flex, at the point where it asks for your license, it will show the MAC address that Flex recognizes (Windows has more than one, this is the easiest way to find out which one Flex recognizes).
Use that mac address to generate the license file on ptc.com
3. Install Arbortext
While you’re waiting, install Arbortext. Don’t try to open it after you’ve installed it. Options are all the typical stuff. You should be able to just click next all the way through.
During this install, the last step is to tell Editor about the JDK.
4. Put the license file somewhere
Unzip the file that PTC sends you with the generated license files, put it in My Documents. Call the folder “License”
5. Install Flex (fully)
This time, when you install flex and get to the license screen, you’ll choose the folder in the lower part of the window and go browse to the license file. Choose the one that doesn’t say “_standard”.
Follow the instructions on this page: Installing Flex Licensing to install the Flex Licensing Application.
6. Run Editor or Styler
Assuming everything goes fine, you should wait 3-5 minutes for flex, then launch Arbortext.
You may need to reboot your computer. Whenever you reboot, or start fresh, give flex a few minutes to come up before you launch Arbortext.
